What Are Newsletters? (Scheduled and Ad Hoc)
A newsletter is a collection of recent postings that are emailed or posted to a user. Newsletters are generated in several ways.
Scheduled Newsletters
Users can control whether they receive building newsletters and how often by changing their preferences.
Turning off the "Building newsletters" email preference will stop newsletters for all buildings. Or for each building users are a member of they can select to receive newsletters "Never", "The morning after relevant news is added", or "Once a week on Fridays when relevant news is added".
Emails are not sent for buildings that do not have Messages Enabled.
Postings are included that have been edited or commented on since the last newsletter the user was sent. Moderated postings that have not been approved yet are not included. Postings that have been archived or deleted are not included. Urgent postings are not included.
Each posting has a "post or comment update time" that is not visible to users. This time is set when the posting is added or edited, and when a comment on the posting is added or edited. This time determines if the post is included in newsletters. If the posting is edited and the "Exclude from news update email" checkbox is ticked, then the time is set back twenty days so that changes are not included in newsletters.
Template postings have their own email that uses the managing agent name. Template posts with variables are not included.
Users receive one email for each building they are a member of.
Ad hoc newsletters
This tool is particularly helpful for communicating with users who are not registered on Dwellant.
Buildings have the option under the Postings menu "Create ad hoc newsletter".
A list of all the available postings are shown that can be included.
The first three options generate a request and attach the pdf newsletters. A set of newsletters is created for each block. The request can be assigned to a contractor for printing.
